Police are investigating after a man died after being hit by a car in Port Kembla this afternoon.
Just after 3.15pm today (Saturday 18 April 2020), emergency services were called to Cowper Road, Port Kembla, following reports a man, who had been fixing a trailer, had been hit by a car.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man – aged in his 60's – suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The 17-year-old female driver has been taken to Wollongong Hospital with serious injuries and will undergo mandatory testing.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District, with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit, have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, who may have dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
