Police investigating Mowbray crash involving pedestrian and vehicle

Police are investing a crash in Mowbray this afternoon where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Around 3.20pm police responded to a report a man had been struck by a motor vehicle which was travelling north on George Town Road, near the Alanvale Road connector.

At this stage in the investigation it is believed the pedestrian had been involved in an altercation with another person on the footpath before he ran across the road and was subsequently struck by the motor vehicle.

As a result of the crash, the 22-year-old pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital in a serious condition.

The 23-year-old driver of the motor vehicle was not physically injured.
