Police lay armed robbery charge at Nundah

A man has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly threatening a Nundah grocery store worker with a firearm.

Shortly before 11am on Friday the man entered the Nundah Street store where it will be alleged he produced a sawn off shotgun, demanding money from the staff member.

The man fled the store with cash and boarded a Brisbane City bound train at a nearby station.

A man matching the description as the one involved in the alleged incident was identified on CCTV by Queensland Rail personnel and monitored with information relayed to police.

It will be alleged the man left the train at Central Station and then boarded a Gold Coast train which was being held at the platform.

Officers boarded the train where the man was arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old Logan man has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a shortened firearm.

He appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, July 23 and remanded in custody to reappear in September.

Brisbane Region Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said the result was an excellent example of how the Queensland Rail and Queensland Police Service working together in partnership to keep the community safe.

"The incidents were captured on CCTV and subsequent police investigations resulted in the offender being identified, located and arrested without further endangering the public.
