Police lay armed robbery charges at Aspley

Carseldine Criminal Investigation Branch detectives attached to Operation Uniform Mallow have charged two men following the alleged armed robbery of a licensed premises in Aspley in early October.

Investigators will allege around 5am on Sunday October 9 two men, armed with a firearm, forced entry to the rear of the business before entering the office and making demands for a female staff member to hand over cash.

Detectives will further allege the staff member was forcibly led to the safe by the men at gunpoint.

She complied with their demands and was not physically injured.

The men fled the scene with a sum of money in a stolen Lexus wagon.

Yesterday police took a 38-year-old into custody at Stafford who was out walking his dog. Police subsequently executed a search warrant at Kitchener Road Stafford address.

He was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of armed robbery in company, attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence and deprivation of liberty.

He has been denied police bail and will be appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Thursday October 27.

Police further located a 40-year-old Petrie man and took him into custody at a Lawnton address without incident.

He has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count each of armed robbery in company, attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence, deprivation of liberty, possess tainted property and possess dangerous drugs.

He has been denied police bail and will be appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Thursday October 27.
