Police lay charges after 2021 fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Welshpool last year.

Emergency services were called to the South Gippsland Highway to reports a truck and car had collided about 2pm on 25 November, 2021.

A 77-year-old Toora woman who was the passenger in the car died at the scene while the driver, a 78-year-old Toora woman, sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 29-year-old Roxburgh Park man, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

After an extensive investigation he was charged with dangerous drive causing death, drive manner dangerous cause serious injury, drive in a manner dangerous, careless driving and fail to keep left of centre of road.

He has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 22 August, 2022.
