Police lay charges after Mahogany Creek fatal crash

Major Crash Investigators have arrested and charged a man as a result of their investigation into a fatal crash that occurred around 7.45pm on Friday, 15 May 2020 in Mahogany Creek.

A blue Ford Falcon sedan travelling west on Great Eastern Highway collided with a blue Nissan Skyline travelling east on Great Eastern Highway near Homestead Road.

A 21-year-old female passenger in the Skyline received critical injuries and was conveyed to hospital where her child was delivered. Sadly, both the woman and her child died. The 23-year-old male driver of the Nissan Skyline received life threatening injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with head and chest injuries.

The 23-year-old man from Swan View who was allegedly driving the Ford Falcon has been charged with:-

• Two counts of Aggravated Dangerous Driving Occasioning Death;

• Aggravated Dangerous Driving Causing Grievous Bodily Harm; and

• Aggravated Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

The man is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on 17 June 2020.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators would still like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or the blue Ford Falcon, or blue Nissan Skyline travelling in the area prior to the crash.
