Alice Springs Police Southern Investigations report the arrest of a 40-year-old male for a serious assault that occurred last night.
At approximately 11:30pm on Thursday 15 April, a 50-year-old female reported being assaulted by a man armed with a weapon at a residence in Alice Springs.
Police and St John Ambulance attended and conveyed the woman to Alice Springs Hospital. She was later transported to Adelaide for further treatment where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
At approximately 3:00pm Southern Investigations detectives arrested the male in Alice Springs. He was later charged with:
- Intend to cause serious harm
- Aggravated assault
- Armed with offensive weapon
He has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a date to be determined.
