Police lay charges - Crime series in Darwin Region

Northern Territory Police have charged two youths for a crime series around Darwin earlier this week.

On Tuesday night, it is alleged that the two offenders unlawfully entered a commercial business in Leanyer, with two as of yet unknown accomplices, and stole two vehicles.

It is alleged the offenders then travelled to a shopping centre on Temple terrace in Palmerston, where they unlawfully entered and caused damage.

The alleged offenders then proceeded to drive to a service station in Pinelands where they allegedly unlawfully entered the premises, causing damage, before stealing a number of small items and then driving to Darwin City where they unlawfully entered a business, causing damage and stealing items.

One of the vehicles was then abandoned in Malak. All of the offenders have then travelled in the remaining vehicle to the waterfront precinct, where they have allegedly unlawfully entered a business, causing damage, before stealing a quantity of alcohol. The vehicle was then abandoned in Leanyer.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident identified and arrested two of the offenders yesterday.

A 17-year-old male was charged with:

  • 4 x Damage to property
  • 5 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 4 x Stealing
  • 1 x Unlawful use motor vehicle
  • 1 x Drive motor vehicle unlicensed
  • 1 x Drive without seatbelt fastened
  • 1 x Stopping in a loading zone

He was remanded to appear in court today.

A 15-year-old male was charged with:

  • 5 x Unlawful entry
  • 1 x Unlawful use motor vehicle
  • 1 x Serious breach of bail

He was remanded to appear in court today.

Investigations are continuing.
