Police lay charges - Domestic violence in Darwin 24 December

Northern Territory Police have charged a 25-year-old man in relation to a number of domestic violence incidents.

Police allege the man assaulted a 20-year-old woman twice in the fortnight.

The man has been charged with:

  • 2 X engage in conduct that contravenes domestic violence order
  • 1 X unlawfully cause serious harm
  • 1 X intent serious harm - strike with projectile
  • 2 X aggravated assault
  • 1 X deprive person of personal liberty
  • 1 X make a threat to kill
  • 1 X going armed in public
  • 1 X attempt escape lawful custody
  • 1 X breach of bail

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on 27 January 2021.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Warren Scott said, "Operation Sherman is a Darwin-based multiagency operation that was launched earlier this month and will continue until the New Year, specifically targeting domestic violence order compliance.

"Fixing domestic violence in our community needs everyone's help. Say 'No More' to domestic violence."
