Police lay charges - Hit and Run in Darwin City

Northern Territory Police have charged a woman who allegedly hit a bike rider in Darwin City yesterday afternoon.

At about 5:45pm, police received a report of a person that had been struck by a car in front of a church in Darwin City. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A bystander was able to provide police with a description of the vehicle including registration details.

Police conducted patrols in the area, approximately 20 minutes after the incident police arrested a 25-year-old woman.

The woman has been charged with:

  • 1 x Not stop or assist after a crash
  • 1 x Drive medium range blood alcohol content

She was bailed to appear before Darwin Local Court at a later date.

Watch Commander Richard Howie said, "The bike rider was treated at the scene for bruising and abrasions. The rider was extremely lucky to have not been more seriously injured."
