Police lay charges over armed robbery, police pursuit - Chipping Norton

A disqualified driver will face court today charged over an alleged armed robbery and police pursuit in Sydney's west.

About 7.10pm on Monday (5 December 2022), police will allege a man entered a service station on Newbridge Road, Chipping Norton, and produced a firearm.

The man allegedly threatened a female staff member before stealing cash and driving away in a Mazda sedan without paying for petrol.

The woman was not physically injured.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

About 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 December 2022), police were patrolling the Hebersham area when they observed the Mazda sedan driving along Welwyn Road.

When the vehicle failed to stop for police as directed, a pursuit was initiated with assistance from PolAir.

It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

Following further inquiries, police located the 25-year-old man walking on Bulolo Drive, Whalan, and he was arrested.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of drive while disqualified, two counts of use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate, dishonestly obtain property by deception, and robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The Bankstown man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Thursday 8 December 2022).
