Police lay charges over assault of hotel staff - Pokolbin

A man will face court tomorrow charged over the alleged assault of hotel staff in the state's Hunter Region last month.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District have been investigating the alleged assault that occurred at a hotel at Pokolbin on Saturday 13 November 2021.

Police were told three men attempted to enter the pub but were refused entry. Officers allege that staff members were then threatened by members of the group, before they were kicked and punched by one of the men.

Following inquiries, police arrested and charged a 32-year-old man at a home on Mitchell Avenue, Kurri Kurri, today (Thursday 9 December 2021).

He was taken to Cessnock Police Station where he was charged with affray, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, excluded person fail to leave premises, and excluded person remain in the vicinity of licensed premises.

He has been bail refused to Cessnock Local Court tomorrow (Friday 10 December 2021).

A second man remains in custody charged in relation to the same incident and is next due to appear at Maitland Local Court on 3 February 2022.
