Police lay charges over drug offences - Palmerston 28 October

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to drug offences in Palmerston.

On 22 October 2021, Drug and Organised Crime detectives with the assistance of Operation Crown, executed a search warrant at a residence in Palmerston.

Police located and seized the following items:

  • a commercial quantity of methamphetamine
  • an unsecured firearm
  • a quantity of ammunition
  • four mobile phones

A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with the following:

  • possessing a schedule 1 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
  • possessing a schedule 1 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity
  • fail to meet storage requirements
  • contravention of emergency declaration or direction

He has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 16 November 2021.

Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley said, "The Drug and Organised Crime Section will continue to interrupt the supply and distribution of harmful illicit substances into the community. Owning a firearm is a privilege that needs to be taken seriously, owners need to ensure that their firearms are properly secured."
