Police lay charges over property offences - Northern suburbs

Northern Territory Police have charged three youths over property offences in the northern suburbs earlier this week.

At around 5:30pm Wednesday, a 13-year-old male allegedly stole a vehicle from a park in Leanyer.

Later that evening, the vehicle was involved in a fuel drive off from a service station in Wanguri.

The vehicle returned to the same service station a few hours later. Four males, aged between 12 and 16, allegedly unlawfully entered the service station and stole a number of small items.

The vehicle was later found abandoned on Becker Street in Adelaide River.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident arrested four youths in Palmerston yesterday.

A 13-year-old male was charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Unlawful entry - Building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 2 x Stealing

He was further charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful entry - dwelling
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Unlawful use of a motor vehicle

Following after an unlawful entry and theft of a vehicle in Pinelands on 10 May 2022.

He was remanded to appear in court today.

A 14-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Unlawfully possess property

He was remanded to appear in court today.

A 16-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful entry - building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Stealing

He was bailed to appear in court on 16 May 2022.

A 12-year-old male will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "This sort of behaviour has a knock-on effect throughout the entire community.

"Strike Force Trident will continue to combat property crime in all its forms."
