Police lay charges - Robbery in Darwin 4 March

Northern Territory Police have charged a man following two robberies in Darwin yesterday.

In the first incident around 2am, the man allegedly assaulted a man playing a gaming machine in a licensed venue in Darwin and stole the win claims ticket from the machine.

In the second incident, the man attended a service station in Ludmilla around 4am with another man, when he demanded free food and drinks from the shop attendant for almost an hour before allegedly assaulting the attendant then stealing a quantity of cash, cigarettes and other items before fleeing in a vehicle.

Acting Sergeant Aaron Watts said, "CCTV operators tracked the vehicle to an address in Karama, where general duties officers arrested the man and recovered the stolen property."

Last night detectives from Strike Force Trident charged the man with:

  • Robbery x 2
  • Possess Schedule 2 drug - less than trafficable quantity

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
