Police lay charges - Stolen vehicle - Palmerston 7 February

Northern Territory Police have charged two male youths in relation to a stolen vehicle in Palmerston last week.

At around 2:10am on Friday 4 February, the youths, aged 15 and 17, allegedly unlawfully entered a property in Gunn and stole a number of small items including the keys to an Audi. The youths have allegedly driven the vehicle a short distance before crashing into a tree and fleeing the scene.

Police apprehended the duo a short time later in Sanctuary Lakes.

Strike Force Trident detectives have since charged the 15-year-old with:

  • 2 x Damage property
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry (dwelling, night/ occupied)
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • 1 x Drive whilst unlicensed
  • 1 x Negligent driving
  • 1 x Leave scene of collision
  • 1 x Trespass
  • 1 x Possess carry use controlled weapon at night
  • 1 x Breach bail

He was remanded to appear in court today.

The 17-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry (dwelling, night/ occupied)
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 1 x Possess carry use controlled weapon at night
  • 1 x Possess housebreaking implements
  • 1 x Fail to comply with youth order

He was bailed to appear in court on 15 February 2022.
