The Northern Territory Police Force has charged a woman over the alleged theft of numerous items.
Around 8am on Thursday 26 February, detectives attached to Strike Force Trident attended a unit on Smith Street, Darwin, with an arrest warrant for a 34-year-old woman who failed to appear in court for a Criminal Deception matter.
The woman was not at the residence; however, a lawful occupier consented to a search of the premises and provided a statement to police.
During the search, detectives located a significant quantity of allegedly stolen property in the woman's room, including six laptops, jewellery, 63 bank and ID cards, 12 handbags, passports and more than 100 addressed mail items. All items were seized. A less than trafficable amount of methamphetamine was also located.
Following further information that the alleged offender was at an apartment complex in Coconut Grove, Trident members attended and arrested her.
Upon search, she was found in possession of cannabis, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and additional allegedly stolen property including 12 mobile phones, 44 sets of keys, a laptop, and various jewellery items. All property was seized.
The woman was transported to Palmerston Watch House where she was charged with:
- 8 x Possess stolen property
- 1 x Theft
- 2 x Possess Schedule 1 dangerous drug
- 1 x Possess Schedule 2 dangerous drug
- 1 x Possess thing to administer dangerous drug
- 1 x Warrant execution
Trident members are currently cataloguing the seized items and contacting victims as they are identified.
Further charges are expected as victims continue to come forward over the coming days.
