Police have charged a 37-year-old man with seven offences following investigations into a series of personal mobility device thefts in the Robina area.
Around 7.20am yesterday, 24 December, officers from the Robina Police Station executed a search warrant at a Varsity Lakes address in relation to a recent spate of e-bike and e-scooter thefts from shopping centres in their division.
As a result of the search warrant, five stolen e-bikes, two e-scooters, a bicycle, dangerous drugs and associated utensils were located and seized.
On Sunday, 30 November, around 1pm, it will be alleged a battery was stolen from an e-bike at a railway station at Varsity Lakes.
On Thursday, 4 December, around 2.50pm, it will be further alleged an e-bike was stolen from a shopping centre in Burleigh Waters.
A 37-year-old Varsity Lakes man has been charged with five counts of possession of suspected stolen property, and two counts of stealing.
He is expected to appear before Coolangatta Magistrates Court on a date to be set in January, 2026.
Robina Sergeant Alexander Collette urged the public to take steps to remove temptation to reduce the risk of theft.
"This serves as reminder over the holidays to ensure that you lock and secure your bikes, scooters, vehicles and houses," said Sergeant Collette.
"Thieves are opportunistic and will target unlocked bikes, scooters, vehicles and houses.
"Queensland Police are committed to delivering effective and responsive policing, ensuring our community is safe."
Anyone with information or relevant vision of suspected stolen e-bikes in the area is urged to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing.
