Police make arrest after damage to speed camera

Belmont Police have charged a 29-year-old woman as a result of their investigation into an incident that occurred in Belmont on Wednesday, 25 May 2022.

Around 9pm, a green Hyundai sedan was travelling on Great Eastern Highway, when it will be alleged the vehicle mounted a kerb and collided with a speed camera. It will be further alleged the driver of the vehicle then left the area.

Damage to the camera is believed to be in excess of $30,000.

The 29-year-old woman of no fixed address has been charged with:-

• Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property; and

• Possessed any Drug Paraphernalia in or on which there was a Prohibited Drug or Plant.

She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 27 May 2022.
