Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating an incident where a woman was threatened with an edged weapon in Palmerston earlier today.
Police will allege that the woman and her young child were returning to their vehicle when approached by two armed male youths in a carpark near Goyder Square. As the woman placed her child inside of the vehicle, one of the youths snatched her handbag from behind.
The pair had the woman's car keys and demanded she remove the child before threatening her with an edged weapon.
A nearby witness came to the woman's aid and restrained one of the youths until police arrived where he was subsequently arrested. The second offender fled the scene.
A 13-year-old male remains in custody and is expected to be charged later this evening.
