Police make arrest - Assault intent to steal - Nightcliff

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 34-year-old male for an alleged aggravated assault with intent to steal which occurred this morning, Wednesday 20 May 2020.

About 7:00am, the male allegedly attended a service station in Nightcliff and demanded food and money from the 27-year-old male attendant who declined to provide either. The 34-year-old male then threatened the victim with what appeared to be a firearm and again demanded money. The victim ran to a storeroom to call police and the male left the location.

Members from Strike Force Trident, Dog Operation Unit and Darwin and Casuarina General Duties conducted extensive investigations to identify the 34-year-old male who was located and arrested at Casuarina this afternoon.

He has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to steal.

Enquiries are continuing.
