The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 17-year-old male after he threatened staff at two stores in Alice Springs earlier today.
Around 9:50am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a male offender had threatened staff members at two stores in the Alice Springs CBD. It is alleged he entered one store in a shopping centre on Hartley Street and made threats to assault a female employee aged in her 60s, before security intervened and asked him to leave.
The offender allegedly attended a second store located on the corner of Bath Street and Gregory Terrace and threatened a male employee aged in his 50s with an edged weapon before leaving.
Police responded and the 17-year-old was located and arrested a short time later by Operation Ludlow II members.
He remains in police custody with charges expected to follow.
