Police Make Arrest At Reynella House Fire

A man was arrested after police located a hydroponic set-up at the scene of a house fire of Reynella today.

Police, fire crews and paramedics responded to reports of a house fire in McBean Street, Reynella about 11.15am on Friday 17 July.

The fire was extinguished by MFS crews.

The house was smoke-logged and extensively damaged due to the fire.

Police have located a cannabis grow room with a hydroponic set-up inside the house.

Southern District CIB detectives attended the scene.

Investigations are in the early stages; however, it is suspected that fireworks may have sparked the fire.

The occupant, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and charged with arson and cannabis offences.

Crime scene investigators will attend and assess the scene. Police will then remove the cannabis set up.
