Police make arrest - Drink driving - Malak

Northern Territory Police have arrested a woman after a crash in Malak earlier this week.

Around 7:35pm on Monday, police received reports a Suzuki Swift had allegedly reversed into a Nissan Navara on Mathews Road, Malak, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Police attended the scene and arrested the 38-year-old female driver of the Suzuki, who later returned a breath analysis result of 0.371%.

She was charged with:

  • Drive high range blood alcohol content
  • Drive public street with undue care
  • Drive unregistered/uninsured vehicle

The driver was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 6 September 2023.

Acting Superintendent Gregory Pusterla said "To get behind the wheel of a vehicle over 7 times the legal limit is absolutely disgraceful and its astounding no one was injured.

"We are continuing to urge both drivers and pedestrians on Territory roads to be aware of the dangers around alcohol. The message is very simple, don't drink and drive."
