Police make arrest over drug offences - East Arnhem Region

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to drug offences in a remote East Arnhem community.

During a search of a residence yesterday afternoon, Dog Operations located a large paper bag wrapped in black tape, concealing what was later identified to be approximately 1600 small bags of cannabis weighing 1.6kg.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with:

  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
  • Administer dangerous drug to self

Acting Senior Sergeant Riva Zio said, "This is fantastic effort by the dog handler and his K9, who have intercepted what would have been a large quantity of drugs in a vulnerable community."
