Police make magic discovery

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives have located 11 kilograms of magic mushrooms, also known as psilocybin, after executing a warrant in Heidelberg West yesterday.

Officers attended a commercial business on Dougharty Road and located the fungi separated and packaged into 500 gram lots.

The mushrooms were seized, and police executed a further warrant at a motel in Macleod where they arrested a 49-year-old Macleod man.

They also recovered approximately 1.5 kilograms of dried cannabis.

The 49-year-old has been charged with traffick commercial quantity of drug of dependence.

The man faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court last night where he was remanded to reappear on 13 October.
