An investigation is underway after nine people including three children and two teenagers were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Sydney's south west overnight.
About 11.15pm yesterday (Sunday 13 September 2026), emergency services were called to Hume Highway, near Longfield Street, Cabramatta following reports of a three-vehicle collision.
Police were told a BYD utility was travelling eastbound on Hume Highway, when it collided head on with a Lexus SUV.
The SUV then collided with a third vehicle – a Mazda sedan – and all three vehicles came to stop.
The driver of SUV – a man believed to be in his 50s – was trapped before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW crews.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The male driver of the ute was treated at the scene before being taken to the same hospital.
One of his passengers – an 8-year-old child – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics with facial injuries before being taken to Westmead Children's Hospital.
Two other children from the ute were treated for laceration from seatbelt before being taken to the same hospital for further treatment.
A male driver of the sedan and his three occupants – a woman and two teenage girls – were taken to hospitals as precaution.
A crime scene has been established and officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command, with the assistance from Crash Investigation Unit, have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
