An investigation is underway into an alleged home invasion and assault in the state's central western plains this morning.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a unit on Dubbo Street, Coonamble, about 4am today (Tuesday 12 May 2026), with reports a man had been assaulted.
Police arrived and found a 51-year-old man with a laceration to his face, a shoulder injury, and abrasions.
Officers were told the man had reportedly awoken to two unknown males assaulting him with a taser and a knife, before they fled the scene.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Coonamble Hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
