Police Probe Stolen Bee Hives in Rural Area

Police are appealing for public assistance after beehive boxes containing bees were stolen from a property in the state's Northern Tablelands.

Sometime between Tuesday 31 March 2026 and yesterday (Wednesday 6 March 2026) 80 beehive boxes – including active bee colonies - were stolen from a rural property on Bruxner Way, 15 kilometres west of the Bonshaw village and 100km north-west of Glen Innes.

Police have been told the boxes and bee colonies the estimated cost is about are worth $150,000.

The boxes are described as predominately cream in colour, featuring blue base boards, blue and white lids and red clear boards.

Officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team have commenced an investigation.
