Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Merrimac

A man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash in Merrimac last night (April 4).

Inquiries indicate around 9.20pm a Mazda utility was travelling northbound on Boowaggan Road when it veered from the road and collided with a tree, near the intersection of Gooding Drive. As a result of the impact the ute rolled several times.

Police and emergency services attended the scene, however the driver and sole occupant of the car, a 55-year-old Logan Reserve man, was declared deceased at the scene.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.

Police are appealing for any motorists that may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage to contact police.
