Police responding to serious traffic crash at Miami

Three people have sustained serious injuries following a five vehicle traffic crash in Miami overnight, Sunday January 1.

Preliminary information suggests around 1am a Black AMG Mercedes sedan was travelling southbound along the Gold Coast Highway near the intersection of Kratzmann Avenue when it collided with the rear of a red Mitsubishi Outlander wagon, forcing this vehicle into the rear of a white Mitsubishi ASX wagon, which subsequently hit two other vehicles.

The driver and three passengers from the Mercedes then fled the scene on foot.

Three occupants of the Outlander were seriously injured and transported to hospital.

Paramedics transported a further five patients with minor injuries to hospital and assessed nine others at the scene.

Investigators appeal for the driver and passengers of the Mercedes to come forward and ask for anyone with information on the incident to contact police. Anonymous reports can be made.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate and appeal for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision or CCTV of the crash, or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
