Police seek information after firearms stolen at Tumut

Police are appealing for public assistance after firearms were stolen during a break and enter in the state's Riverina region at the weekend.

About 9.50am Sunday (13 February 2022), a 60-year-old man noticed his firearms safe had been broken into, in the shed of his property on Russell Street, Tumut.

Officers from Riverina Police District commenced an investigation and initial inquiries suggest the firearms were stolen in the early hours of that morning.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Detectives have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

As inquires continue, police are urging anyone with information – or who recognise the man in the CCTV – to contact Tumut Police on 6947 7199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
