Police seek information after theft of safe at Armidale

Police are appealing for information following a break and enter in the state's Northern Tablelands yesterday.

About 3.10am (Sunday 21 November 2021), a man forced entry into a licensed premise on Beardy Street, Armidale, and stole a safe and backpack.

The man then left the premises and placed the safe in a nearby wheelie bin.

He was last seen heading south towards Rusden Street.

Officers attached to New England Police District were notified and established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with ongoing investigations.

The man is described as being of thin build, about 170cm tall and wearing a black hooded jumper and trackpants, a camouflage patterned shirt and baseball cap. He was also wearing a face covering and gloves.

Police are urging anyone who may have information, or dash cam footage from the area, to contact Armidale Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
