Police seek witnesses after Clifton Hill collision

Melbourne Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious collision which occurred in Clifton Hill on Friday night, 17 December.

Emergency services were called to Hoddle Street near the Heidelberg Road overpass about 7.10pm, after reports that a car and motorcyclist had collided.

Investigators have been told the white Yamaha motorcycle, registered 1X4MP, was travelling southbound on Hoddle Street when it mounted the centre medium strip and crossed onto the northbound lanes, colliding with a car.

The rider, a 31-year-old Murrumbeena man, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The 73-year-old driver of the car was not injured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike prior to the collision.
