Police seek witnesses - Fatal crash at Humpty Doo

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses following a fatal crash in Humpty Doo yesterday afternoon.

Shortly before 1:30pm, a Ford Focus sedan travelling outbound on the Arnhem Highway, was preparing to turn right into a driveway when a Toyota Hilux utility collided with the vehicle from behind.

As a result of the collision, the Ford Focus sedan has entered the oncoming lane where the vehicle was struck by a Holden Commodore sedan.

Nearby witnesses came to the aid, commencing CPR on the 58-year-old woman driving the Ford Focus sedan however, she was later declared deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The 49-year-old woman driving the utility was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital suffering minor injuries. The driver of the Holden Commodore, an 18-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics with no serious injuries.

A crime scene was declared and the section of the Highway was closed for several hours while Major Crash detectives investigated the circumstances of the crash.

Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said, "Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dash cam footage.

"Please contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number 9697952."
