Police Seek Witnesses in Alice Springs Violence

A 44-year-old man has been arrested by Northern Territory Police following an alleged domestic violence incident involving a woman in Alice Springs in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police allege the man assaulted his 37-year-old partner, striking her with a motor vehicle on the Stuart Highway near Hele Crescent.

The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The offender was identified and arrested by police a short time later.

The Southern Domestic Violence Unit took carriage of the investigation. The man was subsequently charged with:

• 1 x Acts intended to cause serious harm

• 1 x Aggravated assault

• 1 x Fail to render aid

• 1 x Drive with a high-range blood alcohol content

• 1 x Drive unlicensed

He is due to appear in Alice Springs Local court tomorrow.
