Police seek witnesses to aggravated assault in Alice Springs 4 January

Northern Territory Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault near South Terrace on 31 December 2020.

Around 10.30am, police were alerted by staff at a nearby facility that a child had been assaulted. On attending the scene, police took a 42-year-old man into custody.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and was remanded in custody to appear in court on 5 January 2021.

Superintendent Joanne Foley said, "Police would like to speak to any witnesses who may have any information in relation to this assault. Please come forward, call 131 444 or speak to Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9524143."
