Police update 1: Grass fire - Watch and act at Eaton

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue crews are working contain a fire in the suburbs of Eaton and Marrara.

Crews will be conducting back burning operations in the vicinity of Abala Road, The Links Estate, Darwin Golf Course and Malak Caravan Park.

The fire will generate a significant amount of smoke in these areas. Any nearby residents are advised to close their windows and stay indoors.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of emergency services personnel.

The watch and act remains current for Larkin Avenue, Eaton. The fire advice remains current for Amy Johnson Avenue, Boulter Avenue and the Berrimah Business Park.
