Police update 1: Homicide investigation at Bluewater

Police have taken a man into custody following investigations into the alleged homicide of a 44-year-old Townsville woman at Bluewater at the weekend.

The 38-year-old Deeragun man was taken into custody without incident around 8.30pm on Sunday August 14 at a business near Main Street on the Bruce Highway, Proserpine.

The man is in custody in Mackay and is assisting detectives with their enquiries. Detectives attached to Operation Uniform Umbara from Townsville will travel to Mackay tomorrow to continue investigations.

Investigators will further allege the man was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near Yarlboroo around 11.30am on Sunday August 14 when he allegedly pointed a shotgun at a passing motorist, allegedly firing one shot into the side of her vehicle.

The victim, who was not known to the man, was not physically harmed during the incident.

There is no ongoing threat to either the Bluewater or Yarlboroo communities.
