Police update 3: Homicide investigation, Railway Estate

Police have released vision of a vehicle believed to be linked to an alleged murder in Railway Estate at Townsville last week.

It will be alleged shortly after 4.30am on July 12, a 39-year-old Aurukun man was seriously assaulted by a group of people inside an Eleventh Avenue address.

He sustained critical injuries, including a stab wound to his chest, and was declared deceased at the scene shortly after police arrival.

Initial investigations indicate the group allegedly left the scene in a white VW Golf hatchback (pictured).

Anyone who recognises the car is urged to immediately contact police.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling along Hervey Range Road between 5.00am and 6.00am on 12 July to come forward.

The appeal comes after detectives from Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) charged two people, a 32-year-old Jensen woman and 37-year-old Beach Holm man, over the alleged murder.

Investigations are continuing.
