Police Update: Arrests - Disturbance - Peppimenarti

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested nine adults and three youths in relation to recent incidents that occurred in Peppimenarti last week.

On Thursday 5 February, police responded to reports of an unlawful entry at a licenced premises where a large quantity of alcohol was stolen.

Additionally, multiple reports were received of disorderly behaviour and disturbances within the community.

Several adults were allegedly involved in an altercation involving an edged weapon and threats were made with a firearm.

Further investigation identified that during the incident, one 54-year-old male was assaulted with an edged weapon. He was later treated at the clinic.

Additional resources including the Territory Response Group, Dog Operations Unit and general duties officers were deployed to the community to support investigations and prevent further escalation.

Police have since arrested three male youths aged 14, 14 and 15 and nine adult males aged between 19 and 41.

Six alleged offenders remain outstanding.

All adult offenders have been charged with a range of offences including Aggravated assault, theft, going armed in public.

The three youth offenders will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ordelman said, "This is a reminder to those who decide to conduct themselves in a way that is harmful to the community.

"The behaviour will not be tolerated.

"We will continue to vigorously investigate any anti-social and harmful conduct and hold those responsible to account."
