Police Update: Enter With Intent, North Ward

Townsville police have charged a second person in relation to a number of break ins in North Ward in the early hours of 26 August.

It will be alleged that between midnight and 3am on The Strand, two sporting clubs, a restaurant and café were broken into. Alcohol was stolen from two of the business.

Yesterday, 28 August, a 14-year-old Hermit Park boy was charged with six counts of wilful damage, four counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, two counts of enter premises with intent and one count each of possess thing intended for use in connection with offence and minor possess liquor. He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court today, August 29.

On 26 August, police charged a 13-year-old Mount Louisa boy with three counts each of wilful damage and enter premises and commit and two counts of enter premises with intent. He has been remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in Townsville Childrens Court on 16 September.

Investigations are ongoing.

Townsville District Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said, "Our goal is to reduce crime and increase community safety by swiftly identifying and apprehending offenders".

"We are sending a clear message to the repeat offenders, police will identify and locate you, hold you to account and put you before the courts because our community has a right to be safe and feel safe."
