Police update: Missing surf skiers, North Stradbroke Island

Water police are continuing the search and rescue operation to locate a 26-year-old man who remains missing from North Stradbroke Island since yesterday morning (May 29).

The search began yesterday when two men were reported missing after they failed to return from a mid-morning surf ski expedition between Dunwich and Cylinder Beach.

Around 8pm last night, a 28-year-old man paddled to the Amity Point Wharf however the 26-year-old man was not located.

An air search continued throughout the night.

At first light this morning the search was expanded as hazardous sea conditions are expected today.

Fifteen vessels and four helicopters are involved and there will be a land search of Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands.

Anyone with information regarding the remaining man's current location is urged to contact police immediately.
