Police update: Police shooting, Stretton

A 43-year-old Stretton man has today been charged with one count of serious assault of a police officer whilst armed, following an incident at Stretton on August 21.

Police attended a Liquidambar Place residence at approximately 7pm where they were allegedly confronted by a man armed with an edged weapon.

It is alleged the man advanced towards officers with the weapon and was subsequently shot by a police officer at approximately 7.30pm.

He was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

He currently remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The 43-year-old man is expected to appear before Richlands Magistrates Court on November 15.

The Ethical Standards Command investigation remains ongoing, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
