Police update: Third person charged over attempted murder and robbery - Lansvale

A third person has been charged over his alleged role in an attempted murder and robbery in Sydney's south west earlier this year.

About 3.10am on Thursday 13 February 2020, emergency services were called to a granny flat on Huntingdale Avenue, Lansvale, after reports a man had been shot.

A 38-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a gunshot wound to the stomach before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police were told two men – with their faces covered and armed with a rifle – entered the granny flat and shot the man before stealing personal items including jewellery, cash and a designer handbag.

Detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Bellvue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

On Tuesday 17 March, strike force detectives charged a 42-year-old man and 28-year-old woman. They remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, strike force investigators, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant at a home at Maryland, about 7am today (Tuesday 7 April 2020).

A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with shoot with intent to murder, aggravated robbery with wounding, aggravated robbery in company, special aggravated break and enter armed with dangerous weapon and, malicious damage.

He has been refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 8 April 2020).

A further two search warrants were executed, at a unit in Mayfield – where no arrests were made – and a unit in Maryland – where police spoke with a 27-year-old woman.

After checks revealed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant, she was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.

She was charged with the warrant for traffic offences and was granted conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 25 June 2020.

As strike force detectives continue their investigation, they have now released an image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their ongoing inquiries.

He is depicted as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid-20s, about 175cm tall, of medium build with brown hair and brown eyes.
