Police Urge Safe Celebrations at World Cup Live Site

Police are reminding members of the public to behave responsibly and safely ahead of another large crowd expected at the soccer World Cup live viewing site on War Memorial Drive this weekend.

The reminder follows an incident last weekend where a man allegedly discharging a flare within a crowd during the public broadcast. The 29-year-old Glenelg North man was reported for discharging a flare and disorderly behaviour and issued with a three-month barring order from major event venues in Adelaide.

With another large turnout expected this weekend, police are urging attendees to enjoy the event responsibly and be mindful of the safety of others.

Flares are designed for emergency use only and are illegal to use in public places. Their use in crowded environments poses a serious risk of injury, burns, and fire, and will not be tolerated.

Police will have a visible presence at the event and will take strong enforcement action against anyone engaging in dangerous or antisocial behaviour, including the use of flares.
