- Keep Australia Beautiful Week runs from 3 to 9 August, with community events scheduled across Western Australia
- Team-based litter collection competitions will be held in Bunbury and Perth for the first time

Western Australians are encouraged to get involved in Keep Australia Beautiful Week, with a range of community clean-up events, school activities and innovative litter prevention initiatives taking place across the State.
This year's theme, Beautiful Spaces, Happy Places, celebrates the positive impact communities can have by working together to keep Western Australia's parks, beaches, waterways and neighbourhoods clean.
The Cook Labor Government is proud to support the Keep Australia Beautiful Council WA (KABC), whose programs continue to inspire and support volunteers, schools, local governments and community organisations to reduce litter and protect the environment.
Recent data shows Western Australia is making great progress in reducing litter, with a 38 per cent reduction since 2022, demonstrating the positive impact of co-ordinated community action with support by Keep Australia Beautiful and State Government programs such as Containers for Change.
Events during the week include community clean-ups in Wongan Hills, Cervantes and Kwinana, a school litter audit at Mercy College in Koondoola, and a marine debris collection and audit in the Abrolhos Islands in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and Central Regional TAFE.
A new addition to this year's program is SPOGOMI, a team-based litter collection competition that originated in Japan and combines environmental action with friendly competition. Events will be held at Koombana Bay in Bunbury on 3 August and City Beach on 4 August.
Keep Australia Beautiful Week supports the Cook Labor Government's efforts to protect and restore the environment by reducing litter, improving recycling and creating cleaner, healthier communities.
As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"Western Australians care deeply about our environment and Keep Australia Beautiful Week is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get involved in protecting the places we love.
"The significant reduction in litter across our State shows what can be achieved when governments, schools, businesses, volunteers and local communities work together.
"Whether it's joining a community clean-up, taking part in the new SPOGOMI litter pickup competition or simply putting your rubbish in the right bin, every action helps create cleaner, healthier communities."
