Political Member Appointed to Advisory Committee on Business Appointments

Baroness Jones of Whitchurch has been appointed as the Labour Member on the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments.

Replacing Lord Whitty, Baroness Jone is a Labour Peer and member of the Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee, and the Horticulture Committee. She was previously the Shadow Minister for Defra.

She is the Chair of Rothamsted Enterprises at the Rothamsted research institute, and a member of the South Downs National Park Authority.

She was previously a Board member at Ombudsman Services, a member of the General Medical Council Fitness to Practice Panel, and Vice chair of Circle Housing Group.

The independent Advisory Committee on Business Appointments provides advice to the government on applications submitted under the Business Appointment Rules for the most senior civil servants and other Crown servants, and directly to former Ministers on appointments they wish to take up within two years of leaving government.
