Porrende Street upgrade confirmed

Travelling around Narellan Sports Hub will be enhanced after Council accepted a tender for the upgrade of Porrende Street at last night's ordinary meeting.

Porrende Street in Narellan services traffic from The Northern Road, the Narellan Industrial Area and the Narellan Sports Hub which provides netball, hockey, rugby league and athletics facilities for the community.

The upgrades, which will cost more than $860,000 are funded under the Federal Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Program, and will include:

  • New road pavement;
  • Realignment of kerb and gutter;
  • Drainage;
  • A gross pollutant trap; and
  • Footpaths and landscaping from the roundabout to the intersection of Graham Hill Road.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the works will add to the upgrades undertaken in last year.

"Council continues to improve its current road network and Porrende Street is a vital part of the Narellan area," Cr Fedeli said.

"Over the past six years, Council has enhanced the area including upgrading the Porrende Street roundabout into Narellan Sports Hub and the local Bunnings store to improve traffic flow.

"I'd like to thank the Federal Government for their funding and look forward to the works commencing."

Council accepted a tender from Devcon Civil Pty Ltd, with works to commence in January 2023.
