Pre-election transport forum for Port Phillip

City of Port Phillip
Members of all the major parties will pitch their transport policies at a free public forum at the St Kilda Town Hall from 6.30 pm on Tuesday 6 September.

Organised by Port Phillip Council in partnership with the Metropolitan Transport Forum (MTF), the MTF Forum shines a spotlight on key local transport needs ahead of the November Victorian Election.

The speaker panel includes:

David Davis, MLC Southern Metropolitan (Liberal)

Sam Hibbins, MLA Prahran (The Greens)

Nina Taylor, MLC Southern Metropolitan (Labor).

A tram for Fishermans Bend, bike infrastructure, public transport improvements and congestion issues are just some of the hot topics on the table or discussion.

Mayor Marcus Pearl is chairing the event, which will also be livestreamed.

"Transport affects every facet of our lives. This is a great opportunity for everyone who travels around Port Phillip to hear about these MPs' transport priorities," Cr Pearl said.

"It's also an important opportunity for attendees to direct questions after the speakers' short presentations."

Cr Pearl said Council is advocating to election candidates on seven transport priorities for the Port Phillip community:

"Government support for these priorities is crucial to help us to deliver our 10-year Move, Connect, Live Strategy for a city which is connected and easy to move around. We are looking forward to hearing what the major parties say at the MTF about partnering with us to achieve great transport outcomes for our community and the many visitors who enjoy our City."
